How long does transfer paper last after washing?
There is not a satisfaction answer to this question because it really depends on how, with what and how long the ‘washing’ took.
Transfer paper is printed with the dry toner of a laser printer or LED printer, and it is necessary that the transfer paper is pressed onto the fabric with very high pressure to transfer all the dry toner and release it from the paper.
So pressure and after-press is a key factor :
- If you use too little pressure, the transfer paper will be less resistant to washing.
- If you use too high pressure, the transfer paper will ‘burn’ and damage the toner.
Keep in mind that you have a 5% loss after the first wash, which applies to most printing methods.
