Why does my print look so pale when it’s printed on the DyeSub sublimation paper?

This is normal. The sublimation pigments only work once they have been heated. Before that, they are a lot paler than after the heat press transfer. So as soon as the print is sublimated onto the product with the heat press, the through colors are visible on the product.
