Some heat presses have optional smaller lower platens. Why do I need those?

A lot of transfer applications are smaller sized. Like logo’s on breast pocket’s, sleeves, children garments or bags. With a smaller platen you can isolate the printing area and not the whole garment has to be placed between the press. This is especially helpful if there are also items on the garment that you do not want to have between the heat press like buttons or zippers. A smaller platen allows you to transfer the design, without having to worry about the buttons next to it.
